Behind the Bricks: Our Visit to the Manufacturer in China

At The Word Bricks, we believe in doing everything with integrity — from how we design our Bible-based sets to how we source the materials that bring them to life. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to visit our manufacturing partner in China, and we want to take you behind the scenes to share what we saw and learned.
God’s perfect timing
This visit to our manufacturer came about in a way that could only be described as God’s perfect timing. Rita, one of our founders, was unexpectedly invited by the CEO of the company she works for to join him and his wife on a business trip to China — her very first time being asked to travel with them. The trip included visits to several cities across China and was set to end in Shenzhen, just a train ride away from our manufacturer. Amazingly, the timing lined up exactly with the week our sample sets were being completed. What began as a work trip turned into a divine opportunity to meet our partners in person, see the production process firsthand, and witness the care and quality that will soon bring The Word Bricks to life.
One of our favorite moments from the visit was seeing the first test models build and right infront of us and being able to touch them — early samples of our upcoming Bible story sets. In the photo, you can see the the test builld in all random brick colours tp test the fit and the build itself. It was amazing to see and hold those first pieces and sets in our hands — the result of months of design, prayer, and collaboration. Each model reminded us that this project is more than just toys — it’s a ministry in motion, built one faithful step (and one brick) at a time.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Quality
From the very start, we knew that quality mattered — not just in how our bricks fit together, but in how our values align with the people who make them. During our visit, we met the talented team responsible for producing our bricks. We were deeply encouraged to see a clean, well-organized facility where employees work in safe, fair, and positive conditions. It’s important to us that the hands building The Word Bricks are treated with respect and care — and we’re proud to say our manufacturing partner shares that same commitment.
In this video, you can see the automated brick sorting process in action. Once the freshly molded pieces leave the machines, they move along a series of conveyors where advanced sorting equipment organizes each brick by size, shape, and color. Sensors and mechanical arms ensure that every piece meets strict quality standards before it’s approved for packaging. Here you can see pieces being added to build sets. Watching this seamless system at work was fascinating — a reminder that even in something as technical as automation, God’s design for order and precision is reflected in creation itself.
This video captures the automated packaging process, where the sorted bricks are carefully measured, counted, and sealed into individual bags by specialized machinery. Each set’s components are weighed and verified to make sure every bag contains exactly what’s needed — nothing missing, nothing extra. It was incredible to watch how efficient and consistent the process is, with machines working in perfect rhythm. Seeing this made us even more confident in the quality and care that will be going into every Word Bricks set.
Seeing the Process Up Close
Walking through the factory, we were able to see the full production process, from precision molding to the final quality checks. Each brick is created using high-grade, durable ABS plastic, the same type used by leading global toy brands, ensuring a perfect fit and long-lasting play. We watched as the machines produced perfectly molded pieces, checked for consistency and color accuracy, and tested for strength — a reminder that excellence matters, even in the smallest details.
Committed to Excellence for God’s Glory
For us, this visit wasn’t just about inspecting products — it was about affirming that our mission is being carried out with honesty and care. Every brick, every minifigure, and every set we create exists to bring the Word of God to children through play, and we want to do that with the highest possible standard. We left China confident and inspired — not only by the quality of the work being done, but by the possibility that God can use something as simple as a brick to build faith in young hearts all around the world.
